Applied BioMath (www.appliedbiomath.com) is seeking a seasoned, science oriented, Associate Director, Business Development as a part of our North American sales efforts. As an Associate Director of Business Development, you will build market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and developing business relationships as part of expanding the current client base. The successful candidate will work closely with other business development team members and the scientific leadership team. The position will report to the SVP of Sales & Business Development. Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for positioning Applied BioMath’s presence within North American pharmaceutical & biotechnology companies to expand customer base and attain sales quota
  • Ability to understand complex scientific concepts in the pharma and biotech industry and effectively communicate Applied BioMath’s value proposition
  • Ability to learn company’s case studies and communicate to a scientifically centric audience
  • Ability to learn, understand, and use the drug R&D process to communicate with prospective clients and develop contracts
  • Aggressively build a pipeline of new opportunities to ensure attainment of sales goals
  • Manage newly developed accounts and expand Applied BioMath’s presence in the target market
  • Develop long-term account strategies and plans consistent with company objectives
  • Bridge existing and new customers towards more comprehensive strategic relationships
  • Attend sales conferences and trade shows to interact and connect with potential clients
  • Manage work-plan generation (Statements of Work), contracts and accurate forecasting
  • Coordinate sales operations with all other departments of the Company

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of biology, mathematical modeling and computing processes (Knowledge of the drug R&D process at pharma and biotech preferred)
  • Previous sales/business development experience within the life sciences industry not required, but a strong plus
  • Formal education in the sciences, preferably biology, mathematics, engineering, or a similar field (PhD required, or the relevant equivalent industry experience)
  • Proven track record of consistent overachievement
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expert in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Motivated, organized and team oriented
  • Comfortable giving presentations to knowledgeable audience
  • A self-starter and a hunter’s mentality
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time (Domestic), COVID-19 permitting
  • 3+ years of hands on systems of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE) mathematical modeling and simulation support, including for example, in quantitative systems pharmacology or mechanistic PK/PD modeling groups, in pharma and biotech R&D not required, but a strong plus
