Applied BioMath (www.appliedbiomath.com) is seeking a seasoned, science oriented, high-energy Director of Sales as a part of our North American sales efforts to accelerate the growth of sales. As Director of Sales, you will act as a player/coach and will provide leadership to the sales team by building market position, and by locating, defining, negotiating, and developing business relationships as part of expanding the current client base. The successful candidate will be energetic, persuasive and well organized and able to demonstrate the ability to sell while working closely with the scientific leadership team. The position will report to the SVP of Sales & Business Development. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with SVP Sales to set revenue goals and company strategy and implementing a sales plan to drive revenue growth and attending key events to generate leads
  • Responsible for positioning Applied BioMath’s presence within global pharmaceutical & biotechnology companies to expand customer base and attain sales quota
  • Define and execute appropriate sales strategies and sales support programs to maximize sales and profitability in conjunction with the sales leadership team
  • Collaborate with scientific staff to jointly convey complex scientific concepts in the pharma and biotech industry and effectively communicate Applied BioMath’s value proposition to multiple clients
  • Ability to learn company’s case studies and communicate to a scientifically centric audience
  • Maintain sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. 
  • Effective coach/mentor within the sales team with the goal of striving to empower the team to reach or exceed their career goals
  • Ability to learn, understand, and use the drug R&D process to communicate with prospective clients and develop contracts in conjunction with our sales engineering team
  • Build an understanding of the competitive landscape and market trends
  • Aggressively build a pipeline of new opportunities to ensure attainment of sales goals
  • Desire to own projects and exceed expectations, with ability to find solutions and deliver results within a rapidly changing, entrepreneurial, technology-driven culture
  • Work collaboratively with the sales and marketing teams and fosters a culture of continuous process improvement and ensure consistency within these teams
  • Manage newly developed accounts and expand Applied BioMath’s presence in the target market
  • Develop long-term account strategies and plans consistent with company objectives
  • Bridge existing and new customers towards more comprehensive strategic relationships
  • Attend sales conferences and trade shows to interact and connect with potential clients either virtually or in-person
  • Manage work-plan generation (Statements of Work), contracts and accurate forecasting
  • Coordinate sales operations with all other departments of the Company

Requirements:

  • Proven sales success in fast-paced growth environment within the life sciences industry 
  • Proven track record and consistent overachievement of sales quota
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills within the context of knowledgeable audiences
  • Keen business sense with the ability to find creative business-oriented solutions to problems
  • Motivational leader with superb organizational skills

  • Keen negotiation skills with the goal of providing value to our customers and our business
  • Knowledge of the drug R&D process at pharma and biotech preferred
  • Formal education or experience in the sciences, preferably biology, mathematics, engineering, or a similar field 
  • Expert in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • General office environment; not special physical demands required
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time (Domestic), COVID-19 permitting
