Applied BioMath is seeking an Associate Director of Scientific Collaborations to help support our global sales efforts. The successful candidate will work closely with our sales, science, and management teams, interacting with prospects and clients from biotechs and pharma and introducing systems pharmacology and mechanistic PKPD modeling approaches at preclinical and clinical stages to de-risk therapeutic programs within pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. This is a very exciting opportunity and a highly scientifically driven role, at the interface of business development and science. The position reports directly to the Senior Director of Scientific Collaborations and Fellow of Modeling & Simulations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the scientific and technical sales activities required to position Applied BioMath in the marketplace
  • Works closely with sales and science teams to understand client’s needs/challenges and convey Applied BioMath’s capabilities and methodologies in meeting those requirements
  • Present the Applied BioMath methodology, approach and relevant case studies to potential prospects and articulate corresponding value
  • Work closely with Applied BioMath scientists to develop client’s project goals and deliverables and generate a detailed work plan (Statement of Work)
  • Generate initial draft Statements of Work and own the process
  • Liaise with the science team once a contract is initiated to ensure proper transition from sales to collaboration initiation 
  • Develop scientific application examples and case studies


  • 5+ years’ experience within the Pharmaceutical and/or Biotechnology related industries in or with a systems pharmacology or mechanistic PK/PD modeling group
  • Strong understanding of biology, mathematical modeling and computing processes (knowledge of the drug R&D process at pharma and biotech, required)
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Expert in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Comfortable giving presentations to a knowledgeable and diverse audience
  • Prior consultative selling support skills, highly preferred
  • Motivated, organized and team oriented
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time (when it is safe)
  • PhD in applied mathematics, biology, engineering or equivalent, with experience in life sciences (pharma/biotech preferred)
  • 3+ years of hands on systems of Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE) mathematical modeling and simulation support, including for example, systems pharmacology or mechanistic PK/PD, in pharma and biotech R&D
