Judy holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh and trained as a postdoctoral fellow at the Mathematical Biosciences Institute at the Ohio State University. Most recently, as joint faculty of Mathematics and of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Judy has accumulated over 10 years of experience collaboratively working with diverse constituents to accomplish objectives on interdisciplinary projects, while managing and reconciling various agendas. Her research program in the higher education industry primarily focused on mechanistic modeling of the complex dynamics of the acute inflammatory response to various stimuli. Additionally, she worked on control discovery methodologies for modulating the immune response in sepsis. She has 15 years of mechanistic modeling experience applied to biology and medicine, has published over 30 journal articles and book chapters in the field, and is on the Board of Directors for the Society for Complex Acute Illness.
